FLORENCE, ARIZONA
Director: Andrea B. Scott
Executive Producer: David Menschel, Julie Goldman
Editors: Colin Nusbaum, Andrea B. Scott
A resonant work of modern Americana, FLORENCE, ARIZONA is a rich and often humorous portrait of a cowboy town set in the heart of Arizona’s prison industry. Florence’s civilian population is outnumbered two to one by its inmates, who are spread out over nine correctional facilities. Economically dependent on this local industry, the small town’s eccentric residents—would-be mayor Lina, barber Andy, retired correctional officer Gunny and repentant troublemaker Marcus—reflect on life in the shadow of the prison- industrial complex.
